Quick fixes for saving energy at home

by Mike Ellaby  20th October 2020

Do we make life too complicated?

We discussed in our last blog keeping on top of energy costs by switching providers to keep costs competitive but how many of us think beyond the obvious and actually look at the simple things we can do day by day to reduce our usage and save money? All it takes is being a little more mindful of our home energy.

Let’s look at the quick fixes we can all do:

TURN TV OFF STANDBY

£35

USE BOWL FOR WASHING UP

£25

ONLY FILL KETTLE FOR WHAT IS NEEDED

£6

WATER EFFICIENT SHOWER HEAD

£35

1 MINUTE LESS IN SHOWER

£8

DRAUGHT PROOF DOORS/WINDOWS

£25

CHIMNEY DRAUGHT EXCLUDER

£19

GET SMART HEAT CONTROLS

£75

LOWER THERMOSTAT 1 DEGREE

£60

FIT LED BULBS ALL ROUND

£40

TURN OFF LIGHTS NOT NEEDED

£15

The figures are average annual savings for a family and not all of them are applicable to everybody but look at the list and see where you can think about saving money around the house and if it all applies the yearly saving totals £346 amazing! Probably more than you saved last time you switched supplier.
